mélanie laurent is a parisian born french actress, i had to look her up after seeing inglorious basterds last night. as i suspected, chic all the way. besides christoph waltz, she stole the movie for me.
another young actress who was also in the movie, but possibly overlooked by some, was léa seydoux (she played one of lapadite’s daughters) – also styling:
i decided to rent the first season of true blood and watched it pretty much in 2 days (the only way to watch a series, really). i absolutely love the southern / louisiana setting (obviously romanticised, this is television after all). anyhoos, who wouldn’t want to live in an old plantation home surrounded by giant live oak trees, sitting on the porch in just shorts & a vest, fanning yourself, drinking home-made lemonade and eating pecan pie?
ps: i highly recommend watching true blood. it’s dark, gritty, funny and gory – with plenty of explicit sex scenes. the opening credits should give you some idea of what to expect:

i can overlook the fact that it’s a musical because (a) daniel day-lewis and (b) sophia loren. also, (c) marion cotillard (d) penélope cruz (e) judi dench. i’m a bit puzzled as to why kate hudson & fergie from the black eyed peas were also cast but, there you go. oh nicole kidman is also in it, i wonder if her face moves.
just some pics i’ve found + fav’d over at flickr recently
nothing amsterdam‘s cardboard office. i would probably spill coffee all over that place.
