some of the photos from my first trip to italy in 2003. it was a pretty extensive jaunt around the country including places like venice, firenze, pisa, luca, san gimignano, siena, assisi, collepino, trevi, rome, pompei, the amalfi coast and lots of wee towns inbetween. they SAY it was the hottest summer in italy for 200 years that year (or something silly) – but apparently the oldies were topping over it was so hot. and it was! luckily everyone enjoys sitting around and just chilling out. i loved it, and it’s very much like the movies sometimes – bella italia etc etc.

hello! i feel like i owe you an explanation as to why the blog is so quiet these days. so, if you’re interested, read on – or just skip to the fun stuff while i get a little bit wordy. i temporarily shelved my working life during Axel’s first year, as we decided i would be his primary caregiver while Anton worked. it was both joyous and tough for me. to be able to spend so much time with him during such an important phase was a real privilege, but it also meant that i lost my grip on some parts of my life…
i’m so excited to share these photos of our trip to the bush! a lot of what we saw couldn’t be captured on film – the animals are simply too fast for you sometimes, and most of the time they’re too far away to get a great shot – unless you have a telephoto lens …
