speaking of musicals … (hello christopher plummer)

amazing technicolour dreamworld

extremely colourful imagery hits the spot today.

this got me thinking back to joseph & his amazing technicolour dreamcoat by andrew lloyd weber.  my parents had the soundtrack of an early nineties production (1991?) – the one with jason donovan as joseph… and as a youngster i used to sit in the lounge and sing along to it aaaaaall day. oh man! i kind of dislike musicals now (or at least, it takes a pretty great musical to keep me interested) – probably because i sang any dream will do until it was coming out of my ears.

eric ravilious

eric ravilious (1903 – 1942) was an english painter, designer, book illustrator and wood engraver. i especially love his design work for wedgwood ceramics. though this first image is what caught my eye…

nest

if you’re ever in the stellenbosch area and you’re in need of a gift for a friend, girlfriend, mom… or just want something unique for your house – look no further than nest. they stock beautiful cushions (specially made) and the best collection of vintage items – which makes this my favourite favourite shop in town (and very reasonably priced, which is nice!). you’ll find nest in the skuinshuis builing, 44 van ryneveld street (bonus: it’s right next to nook eatery)

neverend

i really can’t decide which colour i prefer. both? from furni

neverend is a series of clocks created in conjunction with a select group of incredibly talented artists and designers. Each piece features artwork that is laser-etched onto a 3/8” thick piece of high quality russian birch plywood to create a bold graphic interpretation of the quintessential wall clock.

le picnique

paris picnic

picnics might usually be associated with spring & summer, but autumn in the winelands (and south africa in general) is pretty much perfect outdoor weather in my mind. you can sit in the sun without getting hot, i mean – what’s better than that? yesterday i was driving with the window down and there was that yummy autumn smell in the air… it made me think about times spent lazing the day away on the grass somewhere. preferably eating some kind of cheese.
