the mood across SA is a bit sad this morning (if you don’t follow the world cup…) and even though its technically not over for bafana yet, some people’s optimism has wained considerably since that awesome opening game against mexico. but my spirit isn’t broken, because i haven’t seen the country united like this since the 1995 rugby world cup.

i was watching the game with my dad & during the national anthem he said, “at this very moment 34 years ago people were patrolling our suburbs with guns, look at the country now.” that’s when you don’t actually care if bafana wins or not.

  1. sobering, isn’t it? And we’re playing so well, anyway. We are ranked 87, playing with teams ranked at the top… we’re doing ok.
