strange nostalgia for the future

hey, it’s time for another edition of these things!

the four icon challenge by kyle tezak via design work life

Lately I’ve been working a lot with icons. Trying to capture the essence of an object or idea with only a few lines and at the same time maintaining its elegance is pretty much design in a nutshell. That’s what is so great about icons, they’re tiny poems. I decided it would be a fun project to attempt to sum up some of my favorite books, movies, historical events, anything, with just four icons; the meat and potatoes.

watched this the other day. do you remember how cool it was back when it came out? loved the car most. “that’s a 1956 jaguar roadster!” now if ever i see one i’d be able to identify it, but wouldn’t ever admit it’s because of cruel intentions.

i know i make this statement pretty frequently, but odilon redon might be my favourite artist of all time. that’s portrait of madame redon on the left. then i saw this painting by anton ažbe and thought to myself, if odilon had an art twin…
