icy goodness

just in case you felt the need to look at a bunch of beautiful ice pools, like i did.

… which indirectly made me think of this douglas adams quote

“… imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, ‘This is an interesting world I find myself in – an interesting hole I find myself in – fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!’ This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it’s still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise.”

  1. this is perfect. today i sit looking out my window at reykjavík’s ever-changing march weather – happening so fast it is like a flip-book – snow with high winds, hail as big as blueberries, and every once and a while the sun breaks through it all and shines strangely against the bruised purple-black of the shrouded sky…

  2. Ooh I didn’t know that I needed to look at a collection of ice pools but now that you have shown me them I see that I definitely needed to! These are so unbelievably beautiful. The colours in that last one! You have made my morning.

  3. Oh and that quote is so random. Quite unrelated except that they both involve bodies of water. But I like it!

  4. Love how your mind works. Keep going with the blissful associations. Love em.
