i think i am more addicted to scoping out auction catalogues at Bukowskis than i am online window shopping. which is a good thing, because i can’t actually afford anything at bukowskis and therefore my bank balance is not at risk.
these are from their most recent auction entitled Eclectic – featuring plenty of erotica, including 19th century japanese ceramic dildos and photographs of nude fights. here are some of my favourite blog-safe pieces.
Marilyn Monroe in Vogue, 1962 by Bert Stern (sold for € 1 850)
Tatueringar (Tattoos) by Gösta Werner
Hommage à Douanier Rousseau by Edouard Boubat
Two small dogs by Richard Ansdell
Portrait of two girls by unknown artist
Wrapped Coast by Christo (and Jean-Claude)
A Swedish chinoiserie circa 1900 & a Turkish carpet
A Josef Frank three-seated sofa
An Anders Jönsson cast iron sculpture of a cat
(reminds me of the cafe cat statue that’s outside the Stellenbosch public library, it has been there since 1962)
