Sherbert

have been quietly obsessing over this colour scheme for a while. decided to call it sherbert. yes, i know the correct spelling is sherbet – but i pronounce it sherbert. and since i am making up a colour scheme i may as well make up a word, too. it’s somewhere between art deco pink, peach, salmon and dusty rose… i guess it’s all of them combined.

Decorated Playlists

okay, it’s official, i have found my favourite website in the world. Simon Foster is a designer and former DJ who has rolled his love of design and music into the magically epic Decorated Playlists. i have already made my way through Run For Cover Part One and Part Two featuring cover songs 99% of which i didn’t even know existed. not only is the music selection superb (and highly educational) – the site is an absolute dream to use.

Vintage Summer Snapshots

i’m really trying to psyche myself up for summer. if you follow my ramblings on twitter (or, of course, if you know me personally) you’ll know that i am not the hugest fan of this particular season. it’s the heat, you see. i think i might literally be allergic to heat. i can’t sit in the sun without going a lovely shade of blotchy red. i can’t even sit in a hot room without getting intensely uncomfortable. and the thing about living in south africa is that our summers are HOT. hot hot hot.

other than all that i really enjoy summer, of course. who doesn’t like long beautiful days, outdoor barbeques, walking on the beach, drinking ice cold beers in the sun, eating ice cream really quickly before it melts…

so in an effort to get the summer psyching going i did that guest post on hila’s blog as a jumping off point, then i started making a mood board dedicated to summer on pinterest (laugh at me if you will, but addiction is a serious matter) and now i am sharing some vintage summer snapshots – in colour. what better way to capture the season?

Le Boudoir

i recently received a lovely email from Sandra Lemp, the designer behind lingerie collection Le Boudoir. Now – i’m not the kind of girl who indulges in fancy underthings (i’m more likely to hang about in grandpa pyjama pants than a negligee) and i’m also not one for very frilly, lacy, racy or complicated underwear. but the minute i saw Sandra’s collection i fell – hard.

le boudoir is an exclusive high-end lingerie collection, first introduced in 2oo6. Its style is reduced and modern, yet highly sophisticated and very sexy. All fabrics and materials are hand selected and carefully combined in order to achieve the unique characteristic of le boudoir. The layering of different see-through fabrics produces a variety of colour shades, which sometimes seems to evade the real world. Suddenly, you can see some skin through and in the next moment the impression is vanishing… From its basic concept throughout the whole design and development process, ‘le boudoir’ is made by myself in my studio in Berne.

Miscellania

thank you all for your wonderful response to the Rewardrobe post! it made me feel a bit better about getting too “covety” around here (want want want / need need need). i suppose i wouldn’t actually spend diamond money on designer clothing… i’d probably pay my rent first. but i can’t make a let’s get excited about paying the rent collage, so let’s leave it at that. the truth is that i could have made that list about three times longer in a heartbeat – which is where the next bit of news comes in.

i decided to try out Pinterest again. i had previously signed up when the site first started but never really got into it and closed my account in an attempt to cut down on my social media / bookmarking addiction. psh. i’m actually laughing at myself as i type this. what was i thinking! so, if you want to follow me on there please do – but that invitation comes with a warning: you might get irritated with all the pinning that’s going on over there. this is what i did in 1 day:

in other news, i’ll be doing some guest blogging over at hila’s blog in the next week along with jen and anabela. here is my first post outlining summer positives – as hila and i are both allergic to the heat i thought it might be a good idea to convince ourselves that summer is actually okay.

please see the post for all image credits

also in the news vein is a little mention in the new Vodacom magazine. to all my international readers – vodacom is a south african cellular network. pretty nice, since i am actually a vodacom customer. free data, please? also featured in the article are blog pals Vicky from I Want That / I Want That Wedding, JP from Eye Candy and, naturally, Joanna.

click through for a readable size

you may also have noticed that there are some fancy lookin’ rollovers in the sidebar. how about that! i’m just experimenting for now, in lieu of a complete blog redesign (or at least a blog face-lift).

i know things have been a bit thin around here, posting wise. trying to juggle real life, online & offline projects without losing my mind / losing my eyesight to computer screen glare is a bit of a daunting task sometimes. anybody have tips for time management? better yet, how about some tips for overcoming procrastination? that has always been my achilles heel. refer to social bookmarking addiction above.

in non-blog news – just to break this up a bit – be sure to get your hands on the new Beirut and the new Gotye albums. Both are GREAT and have been enjoying repeat plays on my iPod.

Bathing caps with faces

why not!

speaking of bathing, it’s pretty scary that summer is around the corner. i have noticed the northern bloggers freaking out over their impending autumn and winter months – i would happily trade places with you! we have hardly had any rain, and it hasn’t been cold enough for my liking. it’s mid august and i am already wearing short sleeves and sandals. sigh.
