paris based designer Jacquemus (Simon Porte Jacquemus) first came to my attention last year with this lookbook for his l’Usine collection. since then he kind of dropped off my radar, probably because i look at way too much stuff on the internet everyday and my mind is like… what’s the opposite of a sponge? well, fortunately for me his latest collection is now being stocked by both la Garconne and Maryam Nassir Zadeh – so this french designer is once again on my mind.
La Piscine (“pool” in french) radiates the kind of cool that only french girls drinking Orangina can seem to do. it was inspired by Isabelle Adjani’s pool-themed music video for “Pull Marine”, and the campaign shows a group of bored girls spending all their time in front of an inner-city Parisian public pool (watch the video at the bottom of the post). he describes the Jacquemus woman as someone who is, “ultra simple, raw, very French, smiley, no make-up, she can wear her father’s oversize clothes and also her grandmother’s 60’s dress, flat shoes and of course long socks” *
