if you’re a Kinfolk follower then you might already know about their new venture that was announced yesterday – Ouur. Kinfolk founder Nathan Williams was kind enough to send me some information on their new collective brand; which offers a seasonal line of apparel, publications (incl Kinfolk) and home goods. i also got a peek at the AW14 Ouur Collection. the line is influenced by Scandinavian & Japanese cultures, both of which consistently focus on simplicity in design, and have placed high value on doing more with less.
even though summer is on the way out for us down south (i wore boots yesterday for the first time!) i can still appreciate some breezy summer wear, especially since i basically spent all last summer in long skirts or dresses.
have come across some wonderful identity designs lately. please click on the images to be taken to the original designer and more information on their process.
you know i’m a fan of wearing the pants, and if they’re designed specifically for comfort then they’re even better. the debut collection from MATTER, a socially motivated clothing line founded by Yvonne Suner and Renyung Ho after a trip across India, features “pants to see the world in”. they are made from Tussar silk cotton, with no zips to snag or clasps to break.
Meg Callahan is a designer who makes exquisite patchwork quilts the likes of which i want on my bed. or on my wall. or draped over me when i am on the couch. or used as a cape, for when i walk down the street. whatever! i want one. she recently drove from her hometown of Edmond, OK to San Diego, CA and took along some quilts to photograph along the way.
These Things No.60! this feels like it should be momentous, or something. i actually calculated how long i have been blogging the other day, and it’s been 5 years (and 2 months) since i started this olde blog. so, that is kind of momentous i suppose.
the Kontora Sisters are Katya and Nastia from Simferopol, a city on the Crimean peninsula in the Ukraine. Katya makes jewellery and Nastia is an illustrator (she also takes the photographs seen here). i like that their styles complement each other. also check out Nastia’s other illustrative work here and follow Katya on instagram.
