i have been following Capetonian photographer Kent Andreasen in one form or another for a while, either seeing his work popping up locally here and there or via his tumblr which is just fantastic. he has just spruced up his portfolio site and it’s such a dream to look through. his commissioned work is impressive (especially this one ft Spoek Mathambo) – but i love his personal projects. Silicone Summer, which frequently cropped up on his tumblr, is a personal favourite. such distinctly South African scenes from a unique perspective.
I have been shooting for about 3 years and work with a variety of subject matter. Every day scenarios are the most exciting for me because they are so present in all our lives on a daily basis that they are often overlooked. I feel this idea inspires me the most to get out there and shoot. The idea of being diverse in your shooting capability, I think draws me the most to the photographers I admire. They are willing to step out of a comfort zone and explore unfamiliar territory.
