Paradise is Here

Skinny laMinx (aka Heather Moore) was probably the first south african whose work i saw on international design blogs back in the day. which makes me immensely proud, especially because she is such a lovely and hardworking person. if you follow her on Instagram you will see how she notices design in every day life, and this kind of constant exploration is what makes a creative person’s work great. her new collection Paradise is Here launched last night, and it was this exact exploration of the world around her that influenced the designs.

Following a recent trip to Tokyo, Heather Moore’s eyes were opened to the importance of plants in the city environment. Inspired by her surroundings, and a heightened awareness of the relationship between concrete spaces and urban foliage, she set to work on a new Skinny laMinx fabric collection. Paradise is Here expresses the energy and exuberance of city plants, and how they afford us respite, escape, encouragement, and an opportunity for expression. Their zig-zag softening of hard lines, the gentle shade they make, the exuberant wildness they evoke as they grow from sidewalk fissures, all help us to remember that we’re not machines in this relentless urban world.

you can shop online at her south african store or international store, or visit her shop.

  1. I love that we can get a taste of how Heather is inspired in these photos. That bamboo chair looks great in that green pattern. Very inspiring!

  2. Thanks so much for the lovely blog post! Very much appreciated. And I am so sorry to hear about your loss. All my best wishes at this difficult time. xx

  3. Such fantastic designs! I’ve been living in a temporary space for the past year and haven’t wanted to commit to actual plants since I’ll only have to move them or give them away, so these prints would be an amazing addition to my flat. Love love love that jungle feel <3
