artist Clare Elsaesser has a very popular Etsy shop where she sells prints (and originals) of her paintings. she just released some new works, including these sweet studies which i really love. she’s been documenting them on Instagram too.

My paintings are inspired by daydreams, retreat and the formidable nature outside my window. I live and work in the tiny hillside town of Jenner, California, where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, about an hour and a half north of San Francisco with my artist husband Kai Samuels-Davis.

  1. From the very first time i saw her pieces, I was just enamoured too. In fact, I have two hanging above my dresser. Two women dressed in pastel colours are each embraced by flowers, totally and completely embraced to the point where you can’t even see their faces. Not only does it make up for my perpetual lack of fresh flowers in my room (I’m looking at you fake, peach roses that I got from the dollar store…), but it makes me pause for a moment and focus on gratitude. (Cheese aside, they’re pretty to look at.)

I actually wrote about the floral series a couple years back on my own blog, and I normally wouldn’t post a link but I’m rather proud of it and you’re clearly a fan! http://littlerabbitears.com/2013/05/13/meet-your-summer-insert-ridiculously-out-of-reach-item-here/

    Cheers! :D

  2. Miranda put it best, I’m completely enamoured! And my sister will be too, once I introduce her to this from your blog! Thanks for sharing, there’s a certain softness and mystery to Clare’s pieces that I’m admiring.

  3. oh wow, diana! i am extremely flattered to be included on your lovely blog. thank you so much! xo,clare

  4. These are stunning. I am definitely going to check out her etsy shop – I am in need of some art for my walls, and I would much rather support independent artists than get something from Target.

  5. I bought one her prints and had it framed a few months back – I love it so much. Also very into her newer stuff, which is more sparse, but allows her technique and style to really sing.
    Beautiful!
