earlier this week i stumbled upon these awesome new dresses by UK based label Self-Portrait on ASOS – but by the time i compiled and started writing this post half of them were sold out! which isn’t a surprise, because they are awesome.

i mean like in the true sense of the word. i feel like we see lacey cut-out style dresses all the time now, but the design of these is something else – especially this one, the first dress pictured in this post, which i think would be an AMAZING wedding dress.

Inspired to create collections that are special yet accessible, Malaysian-born designer – and alumnus of Central Saint Martins – Han Chong founded Self-Portrait. Self-Portrait has become known for showcasing designs that combine femininity with a street edge, characterized by Han’s interest in photography, art, architecture and contemporary culture.

you can still find many of these at ASOS, NET-A-PORTERSelfridgesShopBop, Luisa Viaroma & Lane Crawford.

how do you say ASOS anyway? ay-sos? a-sauce? ay es oh es? gets me every time.

  1. ASOS is an acronym for As Seen On Stars so my guess it should be pronounced “ay es oh es”… But I’m tainted by the Swedish pronounciation “aaa-sos” and say “ay-sos” in English.

  2. I’m absolutely in love with a dress on the third photo! I usually say ay-sos.

  3. Gorgeous dresses! I like the first white one the best–ASOS has such fantastic dresses, no?

And it’s pronounced ACE-OSS–I was curious a few weeks ago and a friend found it on the “about” page of the site :D
    Enjoy the weekend!

    xx

  4. Stunning pieces, I have never heard of this brand until now so thank you for sharing! Probably my newest obsession now…

  5. These are beautiful dresses. ASOS really can be a treasure trove, but I still remember their ‘as seen on screen’ days and haven’t fully shaken it off. Their video feature is so helpful, though. And I still say A-S-O-S. I had no idea there was another way.
