Carrie & Lowell

i just had to let you know that Carrie & Lowell, the new album by Sufjan Stevens, is streaming right now over at NPR, The Guardian and Pitchfork. it is a wonderful, wonderful album – i have already played it twice today.

Carrie & Lowell is named for Stevens’ mother and stepfather, and its 11 songs are about “life and death, love and loss, and the artist’s struggle to make sense of the beauty and ugliness of love.”

the album releases on 31 March. cannot wait to add it to my collection. have a listen below.

  1. can’t wait! i pre-ordered it on vinyl… yes, i’m that person. :-D

  2. I’ve been listening to nothing else for the past day. Truly amazing and heartbreaking album.
Wish he could tour in South Africa.x

  3. I have always been a fan of Sufjan Stevens, but my respect and admiration for him (as a person and a musician) has been elevated with this release. I’ve been reading a lot of features on him (via Pitchfork, Guardian, etc.) and his interviews are so earnest and revealing. I just can’t say enough about the album or the man behind it! <3
