polder is a boutique in Paris that also has a girls line called april showers. originally i was just going to share the new polder spring 2016 collection, but was totally seduced by the kids line, too.
The Parisian brand polder was created in 2000 by two sisters of Dutch origin, Madelon Lanteri-Laura and Natalie Vodegel. In 2007, they presented their first kids collection for girls from 4 to 14, april showers by polder, at the playtime fair in Paris. Since the beginning, handmade work, which adds a specific and handcrafted value, has a great importance in all their collections. The shapes are very pure and the work is focused on the research for prints and materials, the colors and finish aim at creating a visually strong and acknowledgeable product.
i am totally in two minds about designer-wear for kids. on the one hand i think it’s kind of a waste of money because kids outgrow things so quickly, but on the other hand i wonder if i’m willing to spend more money on myself, especially to avoid fast fashion, perhaps i should do the same for my child? anyway, it’s a contentious topic – what do you guys think? i mean, most of the time i balk / eye-roll at the prices at Zara kids even… and then i think back to when i was a kid, and basically all my clothes were made by my mom! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
that being said, the clothes really are very beautiful, and i just love that refined yet relaxed French vibe.
