die laaitjie

friends of mine are going to die laaitjie in robertson for a weekend away.

Die Laaitjie is so called as it nestles in the smallest and last of the Dassieshoek valleys in the Langeberg mountains. Despite being so completely remote, the farm is only 7 kilometres from the centre of Robertson. The farm is situated alone in a bowl made by the surrounding mountains. 25 Ha of the farm consists of peach, pear and apricot trees, all of which fill the valley with colourful blossoms during the spring months. suburbs

i am one of 4 kids, the only girl amongst 3 boys. and we grew up in the burbs where all the neighbour’s kids were boys too. so i was the little girl running after all of them, trying to convince them that i could also build treehouses and shoot katties (slingshots). most of the time i ended up hanging out inside drawing at the table, because they wouldn’t let me play with them (aaw)… but sometimes we would do stuff like this:

aah, that new blog smell

perhaps you’ve noticed things look a bit different around here, that’s because i’ve implemented a brand spanking sparkly shiny new look . the layout is a bit simpler – with all the categories and archives far easier to navigate. this mini-makeover left me with precious little time to do an actual post… but things will be back to normal soon, i promise.

i would love and appreciate any comments and feedback.

in case you didn’t know already, i have a mini blog of sorts over at posterous (it’s sort of like a no-mess no-fuss version of tumblr – i love it). missmoss.posterous.com – basically where i bookmark all the things that just add fuel to the fire of my already over-the-top internet addiction. i used to save pics i liked on my computer but then how do i share them, right?

beachy keen

i didn’t take a lot of photos this holiday because i was either eating, reading, drinking, eating, lying in the sun, snoozing, eating, drinking, walking on the beach, riding my bike, eating, napping etc etc. you know? but i did wander onto the beach one evening before sunset to take these shots. the sky really was all pink & blue! maaagical.

ho-ho-ho-holy crap it’s christmas already!

continuing with the backward uploading of photos from my european travels, these are from a trip to prague. the city is just as pretty as you’d imagine, but jammed with tourists (even in late november – the place must be positively bursting at the seams in summer). it’s always best to wander away from the crowds, and hopefully you’ll find yourself in some tiny street with no one else around. see more at my flickr.

i want to go to there

holy moly, it’s only 18 odd days and then my SUMMER HOLIDAY starts. today i’m reflecting on summer holidays of old, 99.9% of the time spent by the sea (where else?). our family haunts were:
