Toast

i really love the aesthetic of UK brand Toast. they have a wonderful collection of basics like breton tees, denim, classic leather items and menswear inspired pieces named after Diane Keaton (of course, who else). have a browse around their latest catalogue and also be sure to check out their gorgeous homeware collection.

Candela S/S 13

Gabriela Perezutti is the designer behind Candela, based in NYC. her identity is deeply rooted in her Uruguayan ranching upbringing, and these equestrian and traditional gaucho influences are reflected in her designs. the Spring 2013 lookbook was photographed by Tom Hines and art directed by Ro&Co, who was influenced by the french film Indochine to create a romantic, cinematic and sentimental feeling as a backdrop for the collection.

Oyyo

Oyyo is a studio based in Sweden founded by creative duo Lina Zedig and Marcus Åhrén, who marry Swedish design sensibilities with their nomadic moods and travelling adventures. the studio releases one to two new products per year to work up a core collection of textiles, pieces of furniture and accessories. their first collection is Oyyo No.1, a series of six original dhurries handwoven by a community of craftspeople near India’s Blue City, Jodhpur.

Uniquely made from 100% organic cotton and vivid vegetable dyes derived from local plants, our dhurries are conceived as timeless self-investment pieces providing comfort of the best possible quality out there. The dhurries are woven with techniques dating back centuries, devoid of machines, but with a contemporary design and colour pallet. Their carefully selected colours and exquisite patterns become a statement of Oyyo’s natural optimism and core values: We claim a re-engagement with the natural world and express our confidence in the productive wonders made possible thanks to cultural diversity.

Daily Dishonesty

Lauren Hom contacted me about her Daily Dishonesty project which is simply super rad. she’s a graphic designer based in NYC who started a series of hand lettered posters that document the little lies she tells herself on a regular basis. i can definitely relate to all of them. she also takes on weekly guest posts – this one by Emma Hopkins made me laugh. “I don’t know what’s wrong with my phone…” so true.

Lauren also shared a tutorial on her process from start to finish – really inspiring for those of you who want to dabble in hand lettering. you can also buy prints from the series at her Society6 shop.
