Paloma Wool

Barcelona based Paloma Lanna just launched Paloma Wool, in which her interests in fashion and analog photography converge. the collection of limited-edition sweatshirts is produced in Spain, featuring Paloma’s own photographs. there are also some beautiful separate pieces made from natural fabrics, focusing on timeless silhouettes.

Paloma Wool is my name and the name of this project, which is about getting dressed and about space or ideas that are created around the act of getting dressed. The brand, created as an artistic project, employs different forms of expression such as sculpture, and video art, collaborates with artists from varied disciplines and highlights the role of photography.

i love the sweatshirts, especially this one. but DAMN those marbled pieces are insanely cool. also love the classic Camila dress! ok who am i kidding, i love everything.

i discovered the work of Carlota Guerrero when i featured those awesome backpacks by Ölend a few weeks back (she photographed their beautiful lookbook). Carlota is a 24 year old photographer from Barcelona who has been taking photos since she was a teenager. one of her best friends gave her a Praktica reflex camera from 1989 before she briefly moved to Paris a few years ago, and she has been shooting on film ever since.  see more at her portfolio & diary.

Ölend

spotted this lookbook for Barcelona based backpack makers Ölend on thisispaper, and i am particularly taken by the sweet styling of high-waist jeans and chunky knits. that’s exactly how i would imagine myself if i was travelling through the north of England on a cold day (or whatever). there would be a flask with some hot coffee in that backpack, that’s for sure. can you tell that i’m longing for cold weather? it’s just too damn hot here right now. the lookbook was photographed by Carlota Guerrero.

Ölend is a brand of handmade bags in Barcelona founded by Adriana Rios Dumon and Fran in late 2012. His intention is to offer a product that recovers the essence and style of backpacks used by the climbers in the 40s and 50s. Backpacks are custom-made, under the Olend philosophy, summarized in the taste for things well done, with soul and patience.
