it’s been a while since i shared something from Nido, the wonderful Argentinian based knitwear brand that makes handwoven accessories from naturally dyed wool. they have just launched a new project called Telar – branching out into artisan textiles that are handmade using a weaving loom, in the traditional Argentinian style.
i have a beautiful Turkish rug in the studio that always gets a lot of comments on Instagram. i never have the heart to tell people that’s it’s one of a kind and that, unfortunately, you have to go to Turkey to get one – so i’m always on the lookout for where to get nice carpets, locally and online. Gypsya has just added some wonderful rugs to their collection – especially love the thick woollen ones. i have been wanting to get a berber type rug for ages… might have to take the plunge. you can buy at their online shop or etsy shop.
first of all, i APOLOGISE for the title of this post. it could not be helped.
so, a difficult thing i had to do recently was help my boyfriend pick out a carpet (actually, rug) for his apartment. at one stage there were three HUGE beautifully colourful kilims on the floor of this old school carpet place we visited in cape town, and the carpet salesman was almost rolling his eyes at us as we umm’d and aah’d over which one he should take home. eventually after peeling away layers upon layers of piled up carpets he found the one. but i’m still thinking back to all those carpets, i honestly would have loved to take all of them home.
