cute really really cute (wow how dyslexic am i today) spring lookbook from harvey faircloth
i really like the sessùn lookbook for spring/summer 2010. oh and the clothes too, of course.
oooooh knits! jerseys! cardigans! flip, i can’t wait for winter again. i am very impatient with the seasons – summer especially (i love it, but once we’re in the thick of it i usually will it to be over as soon as possible). winter, however, can stay. and this wonderful knitwear from new swedish label maska (created by maria svensson & lisa leierth) can stay, too.
once again testament to the fact that i love pretty clothes but don’t really know anything about the fashion world. why do the fashion designers reveal collections for an entire year ahead? i mean, pre-fall is technically the base of the fall collections, but the northern hemisphere is only starting to come out of their winter now (it’s not even SPRING there yet, so they still have 2 entirely different seasons to get through). yes so…. yes. don’t roll your eyes at me, fashion people! perhaps if you know better than me you could tell me why i ask such silly questions ;)
anyway this is kind of nice for us southern hemisphereans, since we’ll soon be pre-autumn (well, in march/april)
Diane Von Furstenberg:
A.P.C.‘s new spring/summer 2010 lookbook: so french, so chic, so simple, so nice.
the menswear is also very nice (for the very fashionable male, would be a while before this look caught on in south africa beyond hipsters and gay guys… if ever):

first bumper fashion special of 2010…
the garden collection by H&M:
alexander mcqueen: (remember this dress?)
the frock collection by anja louise verdugo: Painted clothing, mostly from the 20’s and 30’s, based on ebay photos of things I couldn’t buy. An upgrade from the low-quality ebay photos, and a way to have these items without actually owning the frocks.
a mid-week bumper fashion special that is dedicated to everything nautical (i’m on holiday by the sea, give me a break)

you know, i’ve been skimping on the bumper fashion specials lately, mostly because i haven’t come across a lot of summer stuff that i find very inspiring (especially since at least 90% of what we’re exposed to fashion wise is from the north, where they are now settling into deep winter – jackets, coats, scarves, layers etc). so if you’re a southern african like me (or any other southern cousin), you’ll be experiencing 30+ degree heat by now – and black tights are the furthest things from your mind. that being said, i’ve done my best to collect some summer goodness from around the web. note: i’m not counting the spring / summer 2010 shows, which i covered pretty extensively here, here, here & here
herewith bumper fashion special #22…

(step away from the wayfarers, people. we know you look cool in them, but let’s try something different)
he’s been in australia, so some summer coverage has slipped in
and for something slightly different, if you don’t follow café mode you really should – geraldine dormoy does an interesting series on the visual stylings in films she enjoys. her latest offering was american gigolo (which i haven’t seen because i don’t enjoy richard gere, but might have to rent now since it has the gorgeous lauren hutton in it). some stylish scenes….
