i love to work with designers from everywhere. it’s easy – you send me the clothes/accessories, i shoot and send them back to you. also, i travel a lot and can shoot for you while i’m somewhere around where you are.
so, what are you waiting for?

This summer editorial is something I’ve been working on for a while, it all started with the discovery of an awesome old historic house on Sauvie Island. It is empty now, which made it a perfect backdrop for a countryside shoot, and all the Oregon Parks folks were really chill about the whole thing. I contacted a couple of my favorite independent designers to see if they’d provide some clothing, and I was so excited when they all said yes.
be sure to check out the entire shoot here
kate and alix-rose are two talented cape town locals who i’ve come to know via twitter (the internet never ceases to bring me joy it seems). kate is a copywriter with a great penchant for fashion, and alix-rose is a photographer whose work i’m always excited to see over at her blog. they’ve done some pretty awesome self-motivated shoots before, so i was thrilled when kate asked if i’d like to feature their latest collaboration. which. is. amazing. i might have said “holy eff balls” when i first got a sneak peak. the colour palettes alone are enough to make me weak at the knees.
Fancy Pants. photographed by alix-rose cowie, styled by kate desmarais, modeled by lee-anne johnson, cover page by michael tymbios (who i previously posted about here). the shoot took place at cape town city hall (which is the most exquisite location i’ve seen in a while) and much of the clothing was sourced from nice people at the You Me and Everyone We Know market – the last one of the season is happening this friday.
hey, fashion magazine editors – are you reading this? you should snap up these two. stat.

the ones2watch is an online magazine that showcases the fashion industry’s up-and-coming photographers, stylists & other peeps behind the lens. if you’re seeking some inspiration i suggest you browse through their past issues. i was particularly taken by this editorial that was photographed by ross trevail & styled by lena dystant – who you may recognise from many street style blogs as basically the coolest girl on the planet.
twen was german youth magazine, which appeared monthly from 1959 to 1971 . design wise just an absolute treat. this spread is from collectible’s flickr stream.
caitlin shearer is one of my absolute favourite illustrators. i remember discovering her work on deviantart many years ago, and have enjoyed watching her career flourish. right now she’s doing a series of pin up inspired girls as part of an editorial for le magazine. these should go on my wall. oh yes, and you can buy her prints on etsy – do it.
