donald glover

you probably know donald glover as the ever amusing troy barnes on community… which is where i admittedly got to know about him too. what i didn’t know was that he is a multi-talented individual who also does stand up comedy, makes music under the name childish gambino and writes comedy (he used to be a writer for 30 rock.) i first realised these things when i discovered a remix he did of sufjan steven’s illinoise album under one of his musical monikers, mc DJ – which he called illin-noise (!) – if that doesn’t make you fall head over heels for this guy perhaps these photos will.

taken by ariel rosenbloom for the spring issue of bullett magazine.

Ellen Rogers

ellen rogers is a london based photographer fashion photographer. through her work, rogers creates timeless dream worlds where temptresses seduce and lure you into unknown, dark lands. a firm believer in the art of analogue photography, rogers does not utilize any digital equipment or computer based manipulation (other than scanning the end result) and has developed most techniques through experimentation with traditional darkroom processes.

unbelievable. it’s almost difficult to believe that no photoshop was involved. see more at her website, flickr and blog.

transkei

mike tymbios is a talented photographer and in his own words a real film dork. these are his shots from a recent trip to the transkei. i’ve always wanted to go there & am ashamed of myself that i’ve never been – that feeling multiplied in quick succession with every photograph i saw on mike’s blog. an excellent reminder that our country is ridiculously rad.

john kelso

i clicked through to john kelso‘s website after following his work on flickr for a while, and he opens with:

my name is john kelso. i like to take pictures and play with my dog (copernicus)

copernicus! if that doesn’t spark INSTANT LIKABILITY … then his photographs surely will.
