i love this house because of all the glass, so it feels like there’s almost nothing between you & the forest.

a pretty cool modern renovation of a turn of the century row house in washington, dc

i wish we had more row houses in SA, i would love to live in an urban street not dissimilar to what you see on london, new york & other cities the world over. smaller than a house, bigger than a flat. what more could you ask for?

beautiful exteriors & interiors shot by douglas friedman, they look like they’re straight from a nancy meyer film

the garden house by tham & videgård architects
the client wanted a garden, the actual reason why they decided to move from their duplex apartment in central stockholm to this country side location at lake mälaren. consequently we proposed a house conceived as an integrated vertical addition to the garden, where indoor and outdoor spaces gradually blend and interact.

greg martin did an awesome renovation of this old building in minneapolis, taking 2 years to turn it from a run down warehouse-like commercial building into 2 residential units (one of which he settled in with his daughter) and one commercial unit, to supplement his income. impressive & so beautifully done…

while i was roaming around looking at interiors to place my new favourite chair in, i discovered the work of lake flato – an architectural firm based in san antonio, texas. that’s it, i’ve found the dream architects for my future wood & glass house (in a forest, on a river)

i wasn’ t planning on posting today because i’ve been sick in bed for a day and a half. however, there’s only so much sleeping and tv watching a girl can do before feverish boredom sets in. so i decided to play around with my camera which hasn’t got much love from me lately, and took some shots of things i own & treasure.

i found this cup & saucer in a second hand shop in kleinmond. it was made by a finnish company called arabia (i assume it’s from the 50′s/60′s) and is, by far, my favourite thing to drink tea / coffee out of. if it ever had to break, my heart would break. best of all – it has no chips!

perhaps you remember this post i did about these rad DIY shelves? well apartment therapy did a tour of the brick house‘s, well, house. the portrait above the desk was naturally the first thing that caught my eye (and the rest of their art is also wonderful). and the kitchen! i would move in right now.

the site is a waterfront property located on an island in the archipelago of stockholm. oaks and pines live in meagre soil between sculptural rocks that dominate the landscape. a large section of the site’s upper part is taken by a large oak aged over 500 years
