his work encompasses design, animation and illustration – always with a strong emphasis on drawing.

I’m Kris and I like drawing, embroidery and taking pictures. I particularly enjoy souvenirs from the seaside, going for afternoon tea, trips to ikea and pandas.

drop caps

i’ve been holding out on posting about jessica hische‘s daily drop cap project, but as she recently updated her website i thought it was fitting.

Daily Drop Cap is a project I started in September of 2009 in which I illustrate a decorative letter every day (or at least every work day). The project will continue for approximately twelve alphabets and are available for non-commercial use as drop caps on your personal blog.

daily diaries

i really look forward to these little illustrations by gemma correll, and i always lament that i don’t do something similar – especially because life can be mundane but there’s always something amusing to be found in the little things (eg: smoked mussels that looks like tiny vaginas). i’ve always been hopeless at keeping a diary, so well done gemma (and keep them coming). oh and she also participates in the what i wore today flickr movement, see her outfits here.

proposal

this has to be the most original & amazing proposal i have ever seen!

http://i48.tinypic.com/21et1uh.jpg

It was just over a year ago, eating a bowl of Moules et Frits, on holiday in Paris with my girlfriend Liz, that I realised I could quite easily spend the rest of my life with her. I just needed the right way of asking the question, and a bit of time to work it all out. One definite intention was proposing through illustration. I’d like to think of it as two of my favourite things in life in coming together for the one goal.

i’m excited for the criterion collection dvd of fantastic mr fox to come out (after the release of the film itself, of course) – i love seeing wes anderson’s plans & drawings almost as much as the actual movies. here’s the second trailer in case you haven’t seen it yet (first trailer here)
