Daughters by Floral Magic

i got an email over the weekend from Franz, a photographer based in Singapore whose site lilreddotfolks features inspiring people in Singapore & their personal spaces. i really love the feature on Lucy Siah and Josephine Lau who run mother & daughter floral studio Daughters by Floral Magic. be sure to keep your eye on lilreddotfolks as they will hopefully be expanding into more of Asia soon. you can also follow them on Facebook.

Coffeeklatch

Coffeeklatch is run by Magali Elali and Bart Kiggen who have what they call “creative chitchat” with interesting creative entrepreneurs in their homes or daily working environments. Coffeeklatch means ‘slow journalism using a fast medium’. i particularly loved their interview with garden designers Bart & Pieter.

Green is the new black. Just ask Bart Haverkamp and Pieter Croes who turned their love for nature into a beautiful profession. With their green thumbs they are able to create a unique environment, with the garden as their playground. We meet up for coffee in their loft and atelier, which is really a stunning green and quiet oasis in the city. In the afternoon we head off to their holiday home in the countryside. It’s not surprising to state that green is the red thread in their lives, for nature is everywhere.

My Better Half

Amanda Jane Jones is a talented graphic designer and all-round nice gal who many of you will probably know from the blogosphere and her work with Kinfolk. she has a great series on her blog called My Better Half which is a fun & lighthearted look at couples and their love stories (with some great little design elements thrown in for good measure). you’ll recognise some familiar online faces and be introduced to some new offline faces… just a little bit of love to kick off the week.

Industry of One

because of the time difference between south africa and the rest of the world i usually have the pleasure to wake up to a few interesting emails every morning. today was no exception, as i clicked through to Industry of One

Industry of One is a periodical on the wears of work created by Adam Patrick Jones and Rachel Brown. Here and now again they will explore the style trappings of various industries + professions and document the relationship between one’s line of work + walk of life.

man, i LOVE projects like this – as i’ve said before getting to know ordinary people is much more interesting to me than reading a profile on some celebrity who has been styled to the nines (other good examples would be grain & gramcloset visit, freunde von freunden, the locals, the makers… feel free to share more you know of!) i particularly loved their story on librarian grace smith who “would prefer to read on good old fashioned paper thank you very much.”
