i was conflicted about doing this post because the one thing i feel weird about is “designing” your kid’s life, or creating a remotely instagrammeable lifestyle for your kid. on the other hand i think some kids things are pretty sweet, and i find myself straying into kidswear departments pretty often now that we are expecting one. we are already receiving thoughtful baby gifts and being asked what the nursery will look like – and a big part of me wants to say hey hey hold your horses, it’s not even out of my body yet, can we NOT do this?
when i first saw these ceramic shark wall hangings by Lorien Stern i thought, damn – wish i had a kid to buy these for. but then i realised i don’t need to have or even be a child to partake in the joy of a sweet ceramic shark head! i would totally hang these in my home. or maybe a tiger? or perhaps a watermelon cat? yep, a watermelon cat would happily sit on my desk and keep me company on even the most boring work day. check her other goodies out on Etsy.
i was intending on doing a these things today, as usual, but the Muku SS 2013 collection felt like just the right way to sign off the week. from the sweet little girls (those little dresses! those milk-maid braids! those flowers crowns!) to the simple & beautiful pieces for women made from exquisite natural fabrics – i am quite smitten with Lithuanian based Muku.
i love this picture
it also made me think of my nephew, who is 5 years old today. happy birthday theo! i asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he simply said, “cars.” he’s car crazy, that kid.
Crossing the desert on the back of a dog or searching for lost treasures on the bottom of the ocean, Jan von Holleben’s photographs make nostalgic dreams come true.
