Visits: Coppelia

Miss Moss | Visits: Coppelia

this is the fourth instalment of VISITS, a series in collaboration with Monya Eastman.

there’s a Mungo and Jemima store just around the corner from my office in Cape Town’s city centre, and so i usually find myself popping in there in-between errands and lunch runs. the last few times i have agonised over this coat by Coppelia (which will make you channel Olivia Pope). i always try it on and then sadly put back on the rack because, let’s face it, i have too many coats. so it was nice to meet the woman behind this inspiring local brand, as well as the lovely women who work with her in the Coppelia studio in the east side of Cape Town.

Visits: Peter Eastman

Miss Moss | VISITS: Peter Eastman

this is the third instalment of VISITS, a series in collaboration with Monya Eastman.

walking into Peter Eastman‘s studio on the east side of the city made me realise how many little gems must be hidden all over Cape Town. Peter is actually Monya’s brother-in-law, which made this VISIT a relaxed affair. he showed us the new pieces he was working on for his upcoming exhibition at Smac, and all around the studio were trinkets from by his daughter Jemima – a drawing of a lion, a statue of a cat, rocks collected from the Karoo…

Visits: Hoi P’loy

Visits: Hoi P'loy | Miss Moss

this is the second instalment of VISITS, a new series in collaboration with Monya Eastman.

before visiting the Hoi P’loy studio i had no real idea what goes on behind the scenes of this inspiring company. i had, of course, seen their beautiful Vintage Edison lightbulbs all over Cape Town, and they hang in the window of the shop right next door to my office – so i always stop and admire them on my way to work, not realising how much work goes into them.

Stokperd

Stokperd

you will remember Monya from Stokperd who made my Peggy cabinet and my Megan coffee table for me (yes, i named them after Mad Men characters). i sent her a few reference images and ideas and she knocked together these beautiful pieces in no time. those pictures are all from my old apartment  – i kinda miss that tiny place! and it was two years ago, unbelievably.

Meet Peggy

i know i’ve promised that i would share some pictures of my (not so new anymore) home – but i am slowly getting myself together. a major step was procuring a lovely grown up tv cabinet. i knew what i wanted, but i couldn’t find anything i loved that wasn’t silly expensive, and the stuff i could afford was ugly. oh, so ugly.
