i am really loving the new kings of convenience album – declaration of dependence
probably my favourite song : Mrs Cold (youtube video)
Air popped up on my playlist this morning, which of course made me think of The Virgin Suicides. one of those movies that i love, but hardly ever watch. i think most girls my age can relate when i say this film had an impact on my teenage days (i was 16 when it came out). we were the same age as the lisbon chicks (but, hopefully, not as sheltered/melancholic/suicidal) and we all kind of had a thing for josh hartnett.
i love deer tick, i think i have listened to art isn’t real (city of sin) about 200,000 times. this is a cover of sean kingston’s song beautiful girls. i had heard some shitty tune of sean kingston’s on the radio and could not for the life of me get it out of my head. so for some reason i googled him (my answer to everything) and by way of the internet gods hey, presto, i found this little gem. oi, i love his voice.
The Frowning Clouds are so 60s and very fun. Lead vocalist Nick (a dead ringer for George Harrison) and his poncho-wielding counterpart Zack rotate between singing and rhythm guitar duties. The coarse vocals of Zack lend backbone to “Time Wastin’ Woman”, oozing with the sounds of the Stones’ early catalogue – via who the bloody hell are they?
i love emily haines’ voice!
40 years ago this weekend: love, peace, music, mud & tons of drugs. the photos, stories, videos etc make me nostalgic for something i could never have experienced myself (make sense?). i would have enjoyed seeing creedence clearwater revival, the who & other greats. anyway, love me some hippies. photos: life mag
i have to admit this off the bat, alice in wonderland’s soundtrack has to be one of my favourites. i know the words to every single song, and almost nothing gives me more joy than singing along to ‘golden afternoon’. hah! i’m not ashamed.
