i was conflicted about doing this post because the one thing i feel weird about is “designing” your kid’s life, or creating a remotely instagrammeable lifestyle for your kid. on the other hand i think some kids things are pretty sweet, and i find myself straying into kidswear departments pretty often now that we are expecting one. we are already receiving thoughtful baby gifts and being asked what the nursery will look like – and a big part of me wants to say hey hey hold your horses, it’s not even out of my body yet, can we NOT do this?
Nice Things. no, not those nice things, but rather an awesome fashion label from Barcelona. and not just any brand – but the family business of Paloma of Paloma Wool (see my post about her most recent collection here). started by her parents, Paloma Santaolalla and Miguel Lanna, the company is run today by this creative mother & daughter team.
one of my favourite things about shopping from Etsy is that you can contact the seller directly, chat to them about special orders and shipping needs (which, sometimes, means you can avoid international customs charges – woohoo!) but most of all that you get to support small, independent shops and designers. there’s so much rad stuff out there, and it can be hard to wade through it all – so here’s a nice shopping list, in the form of a Nice Things.
people have been asking whether i was going to do gift guides this year, and to be honest we are having a really small Christmas this side – our families on either side are getting so big that shopping for everyone becomes a really expensive affair. so mostly, we just try to keep things small and simple. yet i am still receiving harried texts and emails from loved ones asking – what do YOU want for christmas? it’s a tough question because i don’t really want anyone to buy me anything. give me a bag of christmas cookies and i’m good to go.
if you check in around here on your browser you might have noticed a Shop link in the top menu. since i can’t do a million Nice Things posts i thought i would occasionally update my virtual wishlist, making it easy for you to browse and shop – if you like! it’s also a super handy way for me to tell my husband about gift ideas. hint, hint.
every once in a while i like giving a shout out to my fantastic sponsors and highlight the cool stuff they sell. seriously, if it weren’t for them this blog would probably be no more. so please support them, not just because they are rad – but because you’ll be supporting the little guy (and this little blog). so click those banners on the right & go to town.
i got a bit sidetracked today while looking at wedding dresses for a friend online, and ended up creating a very wanty June things list. funny thing is it’s pretty cold here right now (i’m actually sitting on a hot water bottle as we speak! my buns are so cold, you guys) – but this is of course a very happy, peach, summery wishlist. sigh, the grass is always greener hey?
