today is “Spring Day” in South Africa – even though our spring equinox is actually on 23 September (my birthday! coincidence? maybe.) i suppose people around here are just too excited to push winter right out of the way. and conversely people on the other side of the world people are quite ready to usher in autumn. Canadian designer Noémie Vaillancourt is one of those people, having just released her FW15 collection for her label Noemiah.
so, Elizabeth Suzann has turned into a bit of a cult label since i first blogged about her way back in 2013. that’s because Elizabeth is a bit of a genius. her collections just get better and better – i think she might have reached peak awesomeness with FW15. i truly envy those of you going into cooler months, and if you get the chance to wear one of her cosy looking creations i envy you even more.

this year i made my first real art purchase. my friend Amy is the curator of Smith, a gallery in central Cape Town – so i am lucky to have a small glimpse into what’s happening in the contemporary South Africa art world. i would love to expand our art collection, but it’s something that has to come slowly and surely when you are starting out.
i won’t hesitate to say that my Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag is one of my most prized possessions. but, i have only used it twice… okay maybe three times. i am SO scared of ruining it that it’s actually a joke! right now it is sitting inside its dust bag on my dressing table in my bedroom. every now and then i take it out, stare at it and caress it like i’m crazed.
oh! i really REALLY love these dresses by LA based designer Natalie Martin. they have some really sweet tops & blouses too, and i also really love this short kimono. Natalie is originally from Australia, and is especially inspired by the unique batik prints and embroidery of Bali. all the dresses are made from hand batik printed silk.
i never thought i’d be into pearls, but damn these pieces by German based jewellery line Saskia Diez are beautiful. i especially love this delicate pearl bracelet and the pearl pop rings. there are also plenty of fine gold pieces for the minimalists out there, as well as these bunny & cat keychains which are TOO CUTE. they ship worldwide.
i like having options, and Reformation gets that. most all of their dresses and skirts come in a variety of colours or patterns. i have the habit of buying one thing in all the different colours if it is a great fit, so i’d have to be careful if i ever got the opportunity to actually buy something from them. bonus: they have free worldwide shipping!
are you a future bride? congratulations! are you looking for a dress? yay! well, look no further. Dear Golden has some of the most exquisite vintage wedding dresses i have ever seen. AND there is a 30% sale off her entire shop happening till 19 July, so you’d best pick your favourite soon. you should also follow Lauren on Instagram, she’s always revealing some insane vintage treasures on there.
i’m giving 10,000,000 points to MétaFormose. doesn’t matter what the points are for. maybe they’re for this coat (or this one!) or this dress. or this skirt. or this shirt. or these shoes. i want basically everything they make – and the best part is that if you order something from them it is custom made to your measurements. that’s like having a personal tailor, who has great taste, who’s also your best friend (okay maybe not the last part).
