yesterday i had a jaw on the floor moment when i saw the lookbook for the debut collection by Ulyana Sergeenko spotted on Lisa’s blog (do you read Lisa’s blog? you should). you may know Ulyana from street style blogs, as she is often seen at various fashion weeks around the world. i didn’t even realise that she was a designer – but the collection is 100% her. especially when she was spotted in this red dress and wore these shoes, not to mention this little get up.
the Carven 2012 Resort Collection has completely swept me up into a frenzy of bowed shoes, neat collars and beautiful geographical and heidi-esque prints. too bad the model looks so unhappy, though. almost as if the creative director said to her, “listen – we need you to look as sad as possible. pretend that you hate the clothes! yeah that’s right… modelling these beautiful clothes really sucks.”
did all the designers of the world flip a switch of some magical machine that travels across the ocean and reads my brain waves? because they’re hitting all the right notes for the new collections. i mean, i don’t even like gucci… usually. these are three looks from their pre-fall 2011 collection that i love. that green get-up is amazing – except for the bag. still can’t get the bags right, gucci.
still confused as to why ‘pre-fall’ collections are being released now. the new york times explains,
The Pre-Fall Collections, being shown in New York over the next several weeks, arrive in stores in May to fill the gap between bikinis and furs.
