the king’s speech

i watched the king’s speech this weekend and unsurprisingly loved every minute of it. colin firth is as good (great) as everyone says he is, geoffrey rush is always brilliant and helena bonham carter is flipping delightful. the set design & colour palette throughout the film is also quite mesmerizing – lionel logue’s office in particular. if this movie doesn’t win every single award it will (hopefully) get nominated for at the oscars, it’ll be a damn shame.

public relations

ok i am a mad men addict, that’s been well established. i’ve watched the season 4 premiere twice already. just wanted to highlight some moments of wardrobe & set design that i loved in this episode. there aren’t any spoilers, but i’ve put in a jump just in case you don’t want to see anything yet!

i decided to rent the first season of true blood and watched it pretty much in 2 days (the only way to watch a series, really). i absolutely love the southern / louisiana setting (obviously romanticised, this is television after all). anyhoos, who wouldn’t want to live in an old plantation home surrounded by giant live oak trees, sitting on the porch in just shorts & a vest, fanning yourself, drinking home-made lemonade and eating pecan pie?
