when i was at university (in the early 2000s – holla!) the only real inspiration we got were from magazines and books, before the magic of the blog world exploded. i didn’t like many of the mags that were available to me, except for frankie magazine. they were hard to come by in south africa then. i used to scour the shops to come across that elusive copy and i still have all of them! so to say i have a soft spot for frankie is an understatement.
i got an email over the weekend from Franz, a photographer based in Singapore whose site lilreddotfolks features inspiring people in Singapore & their personal spaces. i really love the feature on Lucy Siah and Josephine Lau who run mother & daughter floral studio Daughters by Floral Magic. be sure to keep your eye on lilreddotfolks as they will hopefully be expanding into more of Asia soon. you can also follow them on Facebook.
ever since i got back from my holiday i’ve been tirelessly catching up on my reader (which is now down to under 500 items!) and pinning away in the mind to do a massive These Things. but, MASSIVE it was. too massive. so i decided instead to create a little mini-series of sorts called Catch Up. relevant to interiors, fashion, design etc.
