Fall vs Spring

when i was browsing through the latest spring modern sale at bukowskis (they really bring me endless amounts of joy, that auction house) i was quite taken by all the beautiful flower still life pieces. i thought back to how some of my favourite collections from the autumn 2011 shows were so bright and colourful, and knew it would make for a nice comparison – especially since i am noticing that the northerners are really enjoying the coming spring and we, conversely, are really loving the coming of autumn. the other day i stood in the sun and actually relished the warmth as opposed to cursing it. this really is the best time of year.

NORTH / SOUTH

thought i’d highlight the best of both worlds – since you notherners are slowly skipping into spring, and us southerners are steadily creeping into autumn. i’m sure we are both eager for a change … i know i am.

NORTH: spring flowers / beating the heat / the beach / swimming / watermelon / bare legs / lazing outdoors / shorts / ice-cream conesSOUTH: autumn colours / falling leaves / warm boots / scarves / comfort food / rainy walks / fireplaces / layering / snuggly beds

elle oh elle

the september Elle magazine has been out since mid-august, and i was determined to wait till september to actually post about this – but i am far too impatient for my own good….

kim, lana, lauren and i were lucky enough to be featured in their spring issue for ‘the scoop on spring’. in case you read the article and were wondering what on earth i was talking about – here’s my post about atonement & morris and here is the old mac daddy trailer park. i also mentioned pastel blouses, this is what i had in mind:

if you discovered my blog through the Elle, welcome! and thanks Elle mag, what an honour.
