wow where to begin with this post! i thought about maybe splitting it up into three sections, as our trip essentially covered Lake Manyara & the area around Karatu, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti National Park – but i am far too impatient to draw it all out over a few days. just not my style. so of course you are about to be bombarded with a whole lot of photos, information, and me waxing lyrical about how AMAZING IT ALL WAS.
hello! right now I am sitting at the airport in Nairobi waiting to catch a connecting flight to Kiliminjaro. from there we are going on a week long self-driving safari holiday – visiting the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and the Serengeti National Park. we will be camping in the Serengeti, where there are no fences. *cue wide eyed emoji here*
my brother sent this to me – he explores google earth as much as i explore google street maps. it’s the most amazing scene of people in a market in tanzania looking up at whatever it was that took this aerial photograph (airplane? helicopter?) … the shot is so detailed and colourful and so very african. i love it. here is the google earth placemark if you want to have a look yourself (if you don’t have google earth on your computer – get it!)
hopefully i can take cool pictures one day, too? nice one mamma.
my mom took this photo. she won a prize for it, too. she’s also one of those cool moms who has her own flickr account (better than mine!). she rocks. she doesn’t use photoshop at all (in fact, don’t think she knows how to use photoshop) – these are all straight out of camera shots. she only took up photography a few years back, and is super modest about her photos to boot.
