HELLO! you may have noticed that it was a bit quiet around here since last week. we went away on Thursday morning to my parent’s holiday house for the long weekend (friday was women’s day) and i took my trusty internet dongle thing along hoping to get some blogging done, but of course there was no reception seaside. so there i sat, with nothing to occupy me with but my kindle. and it was GLORIOUS. i read JK Rowling aka Robert Gailbrath’s sleuth novel Cuckoo’s Calling, which is a nice & easy, breezy, engrossing bit of mystery storytelling – i highly recommend it. haven’t actually read a book cover to cover in one sitting since December holidays, so it was really rad to be forced to take a break from the internet & tv for a change.
what’s this? posting on a saturday! well it’s raining outside, and i have been lying in bed catching up on the internet. in case you, like me, are somewhere out there having a lazy saturday and you want to look at some beautiful things over your morning coffee, or mid-afternoon snack or late night couch session – here you go. these things no.53.
hello! a These Things is long overdue – and i figured since a lot of you were on holiday it was time for a recap of sorts. i also had a mini-holiday this weekend, we were treated to a night at the amazing Clouds Estate for Anton’s birthday. it’s a bit of a luxury spot in the winelands just outside my home town of Stellenbosch. if you’re ever in this part of the world, and you want to treat yo self, then this is the place. and go eat at Tokara for dinner (have the baked alaska with salmon ice-cream. do it!)
these things no.51! i don’t have anything interesting to say today… i’m tired. i’m going to have a bath. i might read in there. it’s raining outside. i might try my hand at making some vegetable soup. any recipes you care to share? have a good weekend!
i’ve been slipping a bit on the post front this week – sorry. have been quite busy, and felt kind of chained to my desk to be honest. which always makes me worry about my health… all that sitting cannot be good for you. when i’m done with work i just want to dramatically push my chair away from my desk and not even look at the screen anymore (in a metaphorical way of course, my office chair doesn’t have wheels so i can’t do a real push and twirl).
i really do enjoy making these collage versions of my these things round-ups, even though the image ends up so looooooong… you guys will just have to deal because – look! how pretty! this is These Things no.49.
oh! it seems that i skipped last friday for a These Things round-up. i just… i just don’t know where the days are going. my mom kindly reminded me the other day that the wedding is 20 weeks away (cue this face) – but it felt like just last month that we got engaged. mmm. so, you know, such is life. let’s not think about it, and concentrate on these things no.48 instead.
man, i can’t believe it’s Friday already – again. i am having a bit of a déjà vu moment because this time last friday i was prepping a these things post before rushing out of the door for a weekend away. well… we’re going away again! but this time it’s a huge family gathering to celebrate Anton’s grandmother’s 90th birthday. i have a cake, and everything. have a good one, see you on monday!
i think i should do a these things every friday, it’s a nice way to wrap up the week. have a great weekend – we’re taking a road trip to the Karoo to celebrate our anniversary! i’ll try to take photos again like we did at Kruger, it’s always nice to share a bit of south africa with you. have a good one…
