these kind of banners have become ubiquitous online, popping up on every party related Pinterest board (we even had one at our own wedding…) but what if you turn the concept around, and make the message something not so positive? that’s what 20 year old Georgie based photographer & digital artist Peyton Fulford did with her Abandoned Love project.
not to be confused with National Geographic’s own tumblr, Vintage National Geographic instead features scanned in pages from vintage copies of National Geographic going back to the 1800’s. you’ll recognise that familiar halftone printing look that jumps off these old clippings, and it’s almost like you can smell the pile of old magazines that you used to page through at grandma’s house.
a friend and i were chatting the other day and she was telling me about how she’d recently gone to visit a local vintage market and most of the sellers were young girls – and all their wares were from the 90s. that made us chuckle because, well, we wore these clothes in the 90s. i suppose their 90s is our 80s: a little bit familiar, but also just a little bit novelty.
old love is a great tumblr for a quick and sometimes surprising browse (linda evangelista & kyle maclachlan? really?)
i save a lot of things to my tumblr. a lot. it’s a means for me to bookmark things i love on my daily internet travels so i can remember to revisit them later, and also another great way to share cool finds with people. it mostly has a pretty fashion orientated bent… with quite a lot of photography thrown in for good measure. here’s some of my recent favourites.
oh dear, i started another tumblr. wearing the pants is all about women in menswear – because it’s awesome.
whoa, the BKFST tumblr hit
900 1000 followers today! i have to tell you that this is partly because of the greatness that is catherine green aka wolf eyebrows. you have probably noticed her in my blog roll on the right, and you may remember her things i like right now when i first started the series. she is something of a bloggin’ kindred spirit… so it was a bit of a no duh moment when i asked her if she’d be keen to contribute to BKFST. she is totally putting me to shame too – i find myself having to keep up with all her incredible tasty finds.
i fell in love this weekend… with a tumblr. look, vintage tumblrs are a dime a dozen – and i don’t have the patience to follow any of the ones i’ve come across. until now. nineteen eighty is a perfectly curated vintage feast that strikes a nice balance between golden hollywood stars and french new wave it-girls.
