i love the lookbooks by Levi’s Vintage Clothing because they always manage to almost fool me in believing they’re genuine vintage photos. remember this one? yeah. their latest lookbook takes inspiration from candid vintage collegiate fashion, which was famously documented by Japanese photographer Teruyoshi Hayashida in the 1965 book Take Ivy. i actually blogged about it back in 2011. also check out this post featuring fashionable students at Princeton in 1969.
i think about university quite often and what i would have done differently if i could do it all over again (a dangerous game.) probably should have worked harder, dressed better & partied less. that would have changed everything, i swear!
for a while there i was a bit obsessed with menswear blogs. perhaps that is the wrong term for them. men’s things blogs? you know – jjjjound, them thangs, haw-lin… i had to downscale my subscription to these manly pursuits because i am a lady, after all. not really – there are just too many pictures to keep up with.
i wish there was a description that went along with these photos, all i know is that they are titled “plaid jackets” and they’re from 1950. perhaps the plaid jackets was some kind of boy’s club at an ivy league university, you had to wear tartan waistcoats and jaunty newsboy caps to be a member. cool.
