there was a time in my life when shopping for stationery was basically the most exciting thing i could think of. nagging my mom to buy me a new pencil case – “i can’t have the same pencil case as last year!” – and then covering it in all manner of stickers , tippex and permanent marker. filling it with precious items like an untouched eraser and kokis that weren’t dry yet (what do you call a koki outside of south africa?) covering my school books with pictures from magazines and clear contact paper – without making any bubbles.

i haven’t derived any pleasure from stationery in a long time, because i don’t make anything with my hands any more. what’s that all about! it might be time to get back to basics (or school)

This is a very nice benefit of getting my son ready every school year – SCHOOL SUPPLIES!! Admittedly, he’s not quite as excited as I …

  • anabela says:

What are kokis? Are they what we call markers in North America?

Sounds like you & I had a similar love of shopping for new stationery for school. It was one of my favourite things! It made my parents crazy that I was so wasteful and wanted all new pens and notebooks.

  • Miss Moss says:

yes i suppose you would call them markers… i’m not sure! basically different coloured felt tip pens.

i feel a bit stupid for not knowing.

    like so: http://bit.ly/qG5Hyr

Kokis are just called felt tipped pens here (Scotland). My boyfriend was born in South Africa so I’ve picked up a bit of the lingo!

My childhood love affair with paper goods is something that has never disappeared. These make me dream.

This is a great collection of items…Back to school supplies have come a long way!

OMG. Office supply porn. I think having fresh new supplies and tools always makes me feel prepared and excited about limitless possibilities. My husband brings me home office supplies from time to time because the office supply closet where he works has interesting vintage journals and other treasure. I’ll stop talking now as I’ve already exposed myself as being a complete weirdo.

Admittedly, I just reorganized my stationary/office supply area last night. It was a bit too exciting. And, so nice to enter my studio today and see everything lined up and waiting. Love your picks!

Gah, I love school/office supplies more than anything. This post literally made me giddy. Ha!

    School Supplies – awsome!

  • mosey says:

mmmm, love. I used to collect hello kitty everything when I was little and I still carry a cute notepad and pen around with me even though i barely use paper anymore.

  • Madeline says:

haha yes, markers! I’ve never heard “kokis” before but that’s so cute.

  • Bonnie Flame says:

In Australia, markers or “kokis” are called textas. You can imagine the fun we had at school playing rhymingword games with that one!

Im such a stationery perve. I can recall receiving my fist set of pretty writing papers and pencils when I was 4 from a cousin for Christmas, I was hooked ever since. My grandad used to bring me weird and wonderful stationery items back from Portugal, all my SA friends were in envy!

  • Vicki says:

Sigh, this post takes me to a happy place.

  • Lea says:

Flip Diana this post has made me want to go do some serious stationary shopping!

It was my favourite time of the year as well, my Dad used to shudder at the thought, eventually I was given a budget limit :(

  • elissa @ faucethead says:

great round up. i’m thinking the sliced bread notebooks are my favorite!

  • ag. says:

I have a serious love of stationary! And my husband happens to sell office (or school!) supplies for a living…but none as awesome as any of these!

  • eves says:

that dog stapler and those bear paperclips. want.

  • Spotted Pufferfish says:

Beautiful! I too still have a love of stationery (also a throwback form my school days and the excitement I felt when we did the annual pilgrimage to get new school supplies- did you slice a sliver of wood off the very top of your pencils and write your name on them to?)

  • Silmi says:

    These are sooo lovely!

  • Lies says:

Haha, I was the same as a little girl. Pretty stationery is so compelling to me but I never end up buying it. Maybe I need a pen pal. Those bear-shaped paper clips are brilliant. Lovely post.

  • fathima says:

ZOMG coolest stationery evar! So cool, I’d never be able to actually use it :P I have so much unused stationery from school that was too pretty to use, hah!

  • Sam says:

This post make me laugh because uni has just started again for me and I’ve been going on a mini stationery restock all week. Some of my favourite shopping is done in book and stationery stores.

  • Vivi says:

Oh I remember the days when the end of my summer holiday seemed almost fun as I was choosing new notebooks and pens… I kind of miss these days…

  • Leila says:

I love this post! The only thing I liked about school was getting new stationery. I used to make my mom drive around looking for the wrapping paper to cover my school books in. Do they still make spacecases? They are rad.

  • Nadia says:

So Amazing! I want each and everyone of these items.
