living in Cape Town allows me to see the work of some of my favourite local artists in person, and Katrin Coetzer is one of them (who you may have seen me mention on the blog a few times – and you will probably remember her gorgeous wedding). she’s currently showing her latest exhibition Honeymoon at Salon91 in Kloof Street – it is showing until this Saturday 18 May, so get down there and have a look if you haven’t already. i walked out of there feeling so happy, you guys.
Honeymoon marks a personal current period in artist Katrin Coetzer’s life, where she is forging a connection between her inner world and the geographical spaces she visits – real, imaginary and remembered. Honeymoon further references a waning sweetness and suggests the meeting point of fantasy, place and memory. The content of this body of work is centered around themes of spatial exploration, & exotic vs local seen through the lenses of feeling and itinerary…
