i just had to let you know that Carrie & Lowell, the new album by Sufjan Stevens, is streaming right now over at NPR, The Guardian and Pitchfork. it is a wonderful, wonderful album – i have already played it twice today.
Carrie & Lowell is named for Stevens’ mother and stepfather, and its 11 songs are about “life and death, love and loss, and the artist’s struggle to make sense of the beauty and ugliness of love.”
the album releases on 31 March. cannot wait to add it to my collection. have a listen below.

can’t wait! i pre-ordered it on vinyl… yes, i’m that person. :-D
I haven’t listened to anything else for days. This clearly is one masterpiece with a heartbreaking background story! Go read the feature on pitchfork. http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/9595-true-myth-a-conversation-with-sufjan-stevens/
Yes, it’s such a great read!
I’ve been listening to nothing else for the past day. Truly amazing and heartbreaking album.
Wish he could tour in South Africa.x
Perfect :-) Thanks for the share!
It truly is an amazing album. I love how I can close my eyes and it takes me to a different world, a better one. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing this album. It has touched me so deeply.
I have always been a fan of Sufjan Stevens, but my respect and admiration for him (as a person and a musician) has been elevated with this release. I’ve been reading a lot of features on him (via Pitchfork, Guardian, etc.) and his interviews are so earnest and revealing. I just can’t say enough about the album or the man behind it! <3
