you can probably tell by my extensive vintage archives that i love looking at old photos. if i visit someone’s home, even if they’re a complete stranger, and i find an old photo album lying around i can’t resist but page through it. i think it’s so sad that we can’t really do that now. i mean, i’m not going to go scroll through your Facebook albums – that’s just weird, and creepy. right?

i went down a rabbit hole of vintage weddings yesterday, after rediscovering this excellent flickr stream. so i collected a few of my favourites together, because out of all vintage photos i feel like the wedding album is the most neglected.

the image above is of Joan Baez’s sister Mimi at her wedding in 1968. click on the rest of the photos for the original source.

Ah this is amazing! I do the same thing whenever I am at my grandmothers house (or really anyones house)..I recently kept a picture I found of my Dad from his first wedding when we was only 21 (My Mom was his 3rd..lol) But it was so beautiful I just had to!

so much joy in these! love the daisy dress picture and also the one where the bride has her arms outstretched, I think she’d just thrown the bouquet maybe

Oh my gosh I LOVE these – it is soo nice to see people having so much silly fun on such a wonderful day in their lives, it’s a nice contrast to the many posed photos we normally/often see for wedding photos.

I believe this is why I collected vintage junk, its the energy these items put out. They are from a time we will never see again, the memories lost forever and we never take the time to look back…..

These are amazing! I was a flower girl in the 70’s and all these photos with the daisy bouquets bring me right back! Lovely.
