this is one of the coolest things i’ve seen in a while. Onehundredforty is an art experiment that merges smart programming with beautiful design to make personal art prints – from a tweet of your choice. basically you select a tweet, Onehundredforty generates your design, and they print and send it to you.
designs are made up of several different components, and a set of rules determines how they are combined. for the print to work with whichever tweet you select their grid system adapts to its length and changes the layout accordingly. if you don’t like it, you just generate a new one. there are 50 original artworks to choose from, and combining them with your chosen tweet means there are 5000 different possible outcomes. also, any given tweet can only be purchased once for every design combination… so your print is always unique.
We wanted to create personal art prints – but we didn’t just want you to type in words to put up on your wall. It needed something more. Something where more thought had gone into the words, where every letter mattered. We saw Twitter as an interesting way to bridge the digital world with the analog. To preserve something that at the moment is just being lost among the 500 000 000 new tweets produced each day. Think about it: how often has a tweet got you giggling, thinking or inspired only to be lost in the ether? With Onehundredforty, those same words can be preserved.
and who are the people behind this? a group of clever Swedes, of course! they just launched today on Kickstarter where you can learn more about the project. you should back them, cause i think it’s awesome.
