not to be confused with National Geographic’s own tumblr, Vintage National Geographic instead features scanned in pages from vintage copies of National Geographic going back to the 1800’s. you’ll recognise that familiar halftone printing look that jumps off these old clippings, and it’s almost like you can smell the pile of old magazines that you used to page through at grandma’s house.
i have a stack of these old mags too, i wish there was some way to preserve them for all the internet to see – much like the online Life archives? that would be cool. they even have the first page of the first issue of National Geographic dating back to 1888.
I adore all those photographs! xx

I was going to say, these remind me a lot of the Life archives! I think projects like this are so important. Thanks for sharing.

Such a wonderful glimpse into the past :)
Wow! NAtional Geographic truly does have the best set of photos ever. Thanks so much for sharing!
I’m not too familiar with national geographic (except the fact that i own and love their awesome africa camera bag), but I find it intriguing how every single photo published by them has some sort of perfection to it. I mean, all of their shots are so great! And apparently it’s been so for 200 years! Isn’t that kind of amazing when you think about it? I am at least kind of touched by it, how they have managed to keep such quality!
These are gorgeous! Such an inspiration.
I NEED your mid week distraction :’|
Wow, these photos are stunning! I love the pool shot with the ladies wearing swimming goggles.
