last night i was half dozing on the couch after a long day, Anton was flipping through the channels, and somehow we got sucked into watching Anchorman 2. which is probably one of the silliest movies ever created. it’s pretty funny, even hilarious in parts, but what i loved the most was the 70s styling & costume design – especially the outfits that Veronica Corningstone wears.

Susan Matheson is the costume designer behind the film who, as it turns out, actually grew up in Cape Town. damn, Susan nailed it. i feel like if i had been born in this era i would have been so at home: midi length hemlines, wrap dresses, blue jeans, chunky sweaters, belted cardigans… all those good things. i’m taking inspiration for my winter wardrobe.

I’ve had that mustard yellow sweater from Sheinside on my wish list for a while! Has anyone ordered from them? They’re so cheap that it makes me nervous… Too good to be true?

i have actually. my package arrived on time and looked exactly like it did on the website. but these are not high quality garments – they are wholesale products, so don’t expect fine craftmanship. i have only ever bought one thing from them (a dress, which was cotton so i didn’t feel so weird about buying it) but i would double check what the pieces are made of, and see what other people say in the reviews before ordering anything.

i always say there are very few movies without value. silly plot? stare at the clothes! clothes are crap too? what about the music? the locations? that one supporting character? there’s usually something.
