Martin Wehmer is a German artist based in Hong Kong whose paintings are composed of thick brushstrokes. it almost makes me want to take out a brush and swab thick lobs of paint on my face. that’s not weird, right?
Martin Wehmer’s paintings, in thick oil paint, are snapshots of people in different states of mind and engaged in different daily activities. Wehmer’s brushstroke is free and bold on the canvas. He describes his style as “the meaning of a post-abstraction painting… in the field between abstraction and figurism”. Although Wehmer’s style is abstract, the compositions of his works are often simple and the subject matters in his paintings clearly represented.

very cool! Art from far away, different art close up!
LOVE this.
Is this artwork for sale and where can I see a price? I feel like the woman sitting in her work chair, head back is the most accurate depiction of me in my job that I’ve ever seen

I want to touch these very badly…
These are some beautiful paintings.
¿Qué es más seductor? ¿La pintura, o la fotografía de la pintura?

love.
the thickness reminds me of some of the contouring videos online these days. truly.
oh that’s a great description!
I love your site!! I tried to shoot you an email but your “contact” links are all broken on the site:(
Looks like cake frosting to me — and now my stomach is growling! :)
always been a fan of impasto.. loved the first one
i don’t know why, but i want to dip my fingertips right in those pieces and taste that paint, i looks so… sweet. oh lord, forgive me!
I’m late, but this is wonderful. My art teacher told me I was a “lush painter,” then I became afraid I was wasting paint and held back. This makes me want to go back to my original instincts!
