A Cool Silverlake Home Redesign by Homepolish

i remember the first time i discovered Homepolish. i ended up browsing all their home tours, pinning away like some kind of madwoman. Homepolish offers affordable interior design by the hour. basically you sign up, tell them about your project, and they connect you with one of their talented interior designers. you can buy a single day session or a more extensive design package, whatever suits your budget.

it’s a clever idea – i often wish i could get a pro to help me with things i can’t seem to figure out myself (I mean, Pinterest is only going to get me so far). but i’ve always thought that hiring an interior designer is something outside the scope of my life. they’ve been used in projects by people i admire like Leandra Medine and Jaime Derringer (who gives a great run down on how the process worked on her blog).

basically, i’m a fan. and today i’m thrilled to get the chance to feature the home tour of this fresh 1920s Los Angeles home which was recently completed by Homepolish interior designer Stefani Stein.

“The concept for this remodel was a fresh take on the existing traditional style of this 1920s Silver Lake bungalow. Because the home had low ceilings and additions from several different eras, I wanted to make it feel brighter and more open, while simultaneously unifying the additions to feel cohesive and true to the bones of the original architecture. At around 1800 square feet, the vaulted living room ceiling and skylight additions to the kitchen were transformative to the space.”

such a rad space, and i love all the African elements – we have many of the same accessories in our home. i might steal some ideas here. design by Homepolish interior designer Stefani Stein, photos by Tessa Neustadt for Homepolish.

ps: this house is for sale! my eyes popped a bit at the price tag… also check out this before & after.

First – this space is beautiful. Totally agree.

But – Is this an ad? It certainly is written like one, but nothing discloses it as such! This ad-copy-as-blog-content is so grating to me, and is why I love Miss Moss so much — there isn’t much sponsored content. Whatever recommendations are discussed here usually seem genuine and well-curated. Maybe that’s why this post seems so “off” to me…

no it’s not an ad. I haven’t been paid for this post and it’s something I genuinely wanted to share. I have never accepted cash for a blog post – so, really, there has never been any sponsored content here.

      sorry you feel that way!

I’m redoing my first house right now (in Gordon’s Bay!) and I wish I had a designer to help me! Pinterest IS getting me a long way with the cabinets and bathrooms, but I really want someone to come in an style the place after all is said and done. That house is GORGEOUS! I wake up in the night questioning all of my decisions so far. And I even used to work as an interior designer! Its so hard to get the balance and the materials and furnishings just_so.

I don’t have a Pinterest account (too scared of the black hole of time-suckage that it will inevitably become for me) so I rarely browse home design/decor articles – but THIS. This is basically my dream home and style.

I just love the entire look of the place! It’s white and bright without lacking in interesting textures.
    Pinterest dream.

Can you tell me what brand/shade of white you used on the walls in the living/dining area! So bright and pretty.

So gorgeous — I love how thoughtful all of the decor feels, lots of personal touches. The kitchen is absolutely perfect, love the mix of colors and textures.

Nice, but waaaaaaaaay too white for me. I prefer a cozier interior. I feel like I’d have to where my sunglasses INSIDE this house.
I love the floor tiles in the bathroom (also, the grey — while gratingly trendy — is a relief from all the overpowering white). Love the old vanity. But the staging! Who would EVER put a basket of towels on the floor of the shower??? Makes a pretty picture, but nothing anyone IRL would ever do. Unless they like damp, moldy towels.

Do you have any info on where the kitchen floor tile came from? I’m struggling to find something similar. Thanks!

I love the two black abstract art pieces with the black frames. Would you be able to tell me where these are from? I’m looking for something exactly like these for my own home!

    Thank you,
    Andrea

Some Bathroom Ideas

2 Mins read
Thursday 18 August, 2016

soooooo, we have this bathroom, right? and it’s not great. the floors have these huge terracota type tiles. the walls are beige. the bathroom vanity isn’t even a vanity – it’s just a piece of formica (!!!) with a fake granite texture (!!!!) and a sink on top. the bath is TOO SMALL. when i was pregnant i could barely fit in it. it’s just… a mess. a total mess. i won’t show you a photo, cause you don’t need to see it. so our next big home project (after just having our leaky roof entirely redone this past winter) is to renovate the bathroom.
