i, like many millions of people around the world, grew up watching Star Wars as a kid. we had each film on VHS, and i watched them repeatedly as often as i could. my mom even had a puffy quilted cream jacket similar to Princess Leia’s that i often wore around the house pretending i was her (no gold bikini, alas). you could probably say that i ended up being one of those annoying people who knows just a bit too much about the movies, and am a bit of a snob about which version is best (obviously the despecialized editions: high-def unaltered versions of the original films that are fan edited to exclude all the extra shit George Lucas added later on). and, don’t even talk to me about episodes 1-3!
THAT SAID, i was obviously incredibly excited to watch The Force Awakens when it was released late last year. i really loved it, though i have my problems with the film (which i won’t discuss here, in lieu of spoilers). i’m hoping that the next few movies will fall in place alongside my love for the original trilogy, films that i would be happy for my son to delve into when he’s old enough. also, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley – they were just so good!
i decided to gather a bunch of photos of behind the scenes Star Wars shots, many of which you can see in The Making of Star Wars book. Carrie Fisher looks like she’s having the most fun, and Harrison Ford is JUST the coolest. if you have any more rad behind the scenes pics that i might not have seen please share them in the comments! and, if you haven’t yet, certainly go see The Force Awakens (though not before you have seen IV-VI, obviously)
