Edouard Boubat – Cafe De Flore, Paris, 1953
hey friends! what’s happening? the most interesting thing i’ve done lately – which actually isn’t that interesting at all, but maybe you wanted to hear about it, is that i completed a Whole30. well, Anton and i both did. we are BIG eaters. like, YUGE. it is one of our favourite things to do together, ever since we first started dating all those years ago. you could say that we’ve been a tad bit gluttonous. when we were child-free and on the lamb we regularly ate out: dinners, lunches, breakfasts, brunches… oh, i miss it so. then we became parents and suddenly we found ourselves too tired to cook, and began leaning heavily on our bad eating ways – getting a lot of take out and having really easy suppers (pasta! pizza! curry! sushi!). it has taken a toll on us, physically, and i have found it very hard to bounce back after having a baby. but you know, Axel is almost a year and a half now… there’s an expiration date on pulling the “baby weight” card.
but, that’s not really why we did it. Anton has a chronic neuromuscular autoimmune disease (which i won’t get into it here) so we both decided that we needed to start looking at alternative ways to treat his symptoms. i have always read about autoimmune diseases + inflammation and how your diet can negatively or positively swings things around. so, we decided to try it. i’m happy to report that it seems to be helping! i think it will still be a long road, but i can say that our habits have changed for the better and we are both feeling much better (and my jeans are fitting again, which is a happy side-effect). if you’ve ever been keen to try an elimination diet or you’re just interested in hearing more, drop me a mail!
anyway, those first few days were hard and i had to do a lot of distracting myself to stop thinking about fooooooooood. perhaps you need a distraction too? here ya go.
